2024 AFSE PhD Prize - Best Dissertation

Guglielmo ZAPPALÀ

For his PhD Dissertation entitled “Adaptation, beliefs, and impacts: Essays on the economics of climate” completed at the Paris School of Economics under the supervision of Katrin Millock.

 

His dissertation comprises four single-authored chapters on the socio-economic impacts and adaptation to climate change, as well as how individuals perceive climate and the role of beliefs in adaptive behavior.

Two chapters have been published in the Journal of Development Economics and on Environmental and Resource Economics.

Guglielmo is a Postdoctoral Researcher at emLab at UC Santa Barbara.


2024 AFSE PhD Prize Special mentions

Léa BOU SLEIMAN

Léa's PhD dissertation is entitled “Essays in Urban and Environmental Economics”. Her research has been carried out at Ecole Polytechnique de Paris under the co-supervision of Benoit Schmutz and Patricia Crifo.

Léa is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the NBER, diving into the world of urban, environmental and transportation economics.

She’s also an Associate in the Econ Department of Harvard University.

From July 2024, she will be an Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore (Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy)

She conducts research on urban-related public policies, with a special focus on environmental and transportation aspects.

 

Maxime BONELLI

Maxime's PhD Dissertation is entitled  “Three essays on innovation and human capital in the investment management industry” - His Research has been carried out at HEC Paris under the supervision of Augustin Landier.

Maxime Bonelli is an Assistant Professor of Finance at London Business School.

His main research interests are in Corporate Finance and Asset Management. He studies the factors shaping the organization of the financial sector and the resulting effects on the real economy.

He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from HEC Paris (2023) and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Inria (2016). Before his doctoral studies, he worked as a quantitative researcher in the asset management industry for more than four years.
