CAE - Philippe Martin Award
The Philippe Martin Prize is awarded for the best doctoral thesis in economics.
With its partners, Insee and Crédit Mutuel Alliance Fédérale, the Conseil d'analyse économique has decided to honor the memoryof Philippe Martin by creating an annual prize in his name to reward the best doctoral theses in economics.
To be eligible for the Prix Philippe Martin, the work must make a clear contribution to the development, management or evaluation of public policy. For the 2024 prize, the thesis must have been defended between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
The 14,000 euro prize is awarded by a jury of CAE members. It will be awarded in December 2024, on the occasion of the annual public policy evaluation conference organized by the Direction Générale du Trésor. Winners will have the opportunity to propose a Focus project presenting the main contributions of the thesis, which will be published on the CAE website.
How to get involved
Applications must be submitted by the thesis or laboratory directors of the institutions in which the students were registered at the time of their thesis defense. The same thesis or laboratory director may submit several applications.
The application file must include attachments in pdf format:

- - a summary of the thesis (10 pages maximum) focusing on original results likely to be published;
- - a chapter of the thesis corresponding to the job market paper (the thesis can be written in French or English);
- - the candidate's CV.

All documents must be sent to orkia.saib@cae-eco.fr. Entries for the 2024 prize must be submitted by September 15, 2024.
The timetable for the 2024 prize
- June-July 2024: advertising the competition at the grandes écoles and universities awarding economics degrees, and on social networks
- September 15, 2024: Application deadline
- Mid-September - mid-November 2024: examination of the files received by the members of the jury
- Mid-November: Plenary meeting of the jury to draw up the prize list (minutes are drawn up to record the decision to award the prize).
- December 2024: Award ceremony
