When socio-fiscal systems deepen socio-economic inequalities between men and women

Tax policies often reinforce gender inequalities through biases that are sometimes explicit, but often implicit. This article examines how existing socio-economic inequalities and a specific consumption basket can make taxation work against women. It suggests that tax reforms that take these characteristics into account could reduce these disparities and promote equity.
